"Challenges of Transitioning from Records Management to Information Governance"

By Angela Fares, RHIA, CRM, CISA, CGEIT, CRISC, CISM

Angela Fares is a long time records management professional with additional training and certification in information technology and auditing.  She is a 1984 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management and a minor in Computer Science (Louisiana Tech University is famous for Terry Bradshaw, the women’s Olympic gold medal basketball team, and the Duck Dynasty family…but the football team is anonymous).  In 1995, she was the first female graduate of the Dallas Baptist University MBA program in Management of Information Systems where she graduated with honors and completed her second MBA in International Business in 1996.  She is currently a Registered Health Information Administrator, Certified Records Manager, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Systems Manager, Certified Information Technology Governance Professional, and a Certified Information Technology Risk Management Professional.  Officially, she states that she has more letters AFTER her name, than IN her name.  But, it forces her to keep up with current trends and share her war stories as she tries to stay in compliance.  Angela is going to talk about the challenges that records and information management professionals face as they transition from traditional records and information management programs to the world of information governance.  She has privately shared that your best bet is to keep an open mind and a great sense of humor.
