You know you have sensitive data (e.g., credit card numbers, driver’s license images, social security numbers, etc.) in your enterprise, but do you know where that data is located? Is it protected for GDPR, or against hacking? Do you need to get your house in order? This case study session will take you through one company’s efforts to maintain PCI compliance and the steps taken to plan, locate, and remediate sensitive data across the organization (structured and unstructured data sources). Attendees will learn about proven methods to obtain compliance and protect your most valuable information assets.

As more companies and government agencies are becoming cyber dependent, the outbreak of malware attacks and their sophistication are growing exponentially. This presentation will showcase live demonstrations of multiple malware threat vectors and provide sobering examples of the ease at which attackers can compromise your data.

Presenter Bios

John P. Frost, CRM, FAI has over 25 years of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and Information Governance (IG) experience, including information security and content analytics. He has been a Corporate Records Manager, Technical Governance Consultant, Technical Seller, Worldwide Services Practice Lead, and Vice President of Sales and Operations. He is a Certified Records Manager (CRM), and a Past President and Fellow of ARMA International. John has led or participated in ECM and IG projects for global corporations, foreign governments, and Fortune 500 companies. John currently serves as Senior Information Governance Specialist for Box.

David Kilgore, is Corporate Counsel with Rackspace in San Antonio, Texas, where he focuses primarily on Vendor and Intellectual Property with an emphasis on Marketing, Trademark, and Patent Issues. He is an Adjunct Professor of Negotiations at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. Prior to joining Rackspace, David spent 20 years as the Director of Technology for the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Honorable Xavier Rodriguez is a former Texas Supreme Court Justice and currently sits on the bench as a United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, a master’s degree from the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs and a doctor of jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas Law School. Prior to assuming the bench, he was a partner in the international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski (now known as Norton Rose Fulbright). Judge Rodriguez is a frequent speaker on continuing legal education seminars and has authored numerous articles regarding employment law, discovery and arbitration issues. He is the editor of Essentials of E-Discovery (TexasBarBooks 2014). He serves as an adjunct professor of law at the St. Mary’s University School of Law. He was elected to membership in the American Law Institute, and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation. In 2011 he was awarded the Rosewood Gavel Award for outstanding judicial service from the St. Mary's University School of Law.

Honorable Lee Yeakel was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed as a United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, in July 2003. Before confirmation as a United States District Judge, Judge Yeakel served as Chief Justice and Justice of the Texas Third Court of Appeals. Judge Yeakel spent his entire legal career in Austin. After law school, he was in private practice for over 28 years. He was appointed by former Texas Governor Rick Perry to serve as a member of the national Uniform Law Commission. He is a member of the American Law Institute, a sustaining life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Judge Yeakel was awarded the 2012 Samuel Pessarra Outstanding Jurist Award by the Texas Bar Foundation, and the University of Texas School of Law’s The Review of Litigation named Judge Yeakel the Outstanding Texas Jurist for 2014. The Honorable Lee Yeakel Intellectual Property American Inn of Court is named in his honor. He has spoken at various professional development courses and regulatory conferences. Judge Yeakel received undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Laws from the University of Virginia. Judge Yeakel and his wife, Anne, have been married for 50 years. They have two adult children, and three grandchildren.

Tom Ervin, a Computer Scientist, has been supporting the FBI with cyber forensics analysis for the past eighteen years. He specializes in computer intrusions and the dissection of computer viruses and worms. In 2000, Tom helped establish the FBI's first malicious code laboratory at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He has been working at the San Antonio Division since 2010, supporting the Cyber Squad on criminal and national security investigations. Tom holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering.

Dr. Harold Hardaway built his career navigating executives and organizations through change initiatives and helping them turn their culture into a strategic advantage. Beginning his career as a corporate trainer, Harold is a skilled facilitator with a unique ability to operate at the strategic and tactical level with a primary focus on leadership, corporate culture, and organizational change. As Director of Corporate Communications & Culture for H-E-B Grocery Company, Harold was responsible for standard communications, corporate events, video production, employee engagement research, recognition, and the employee stock program – integrating technology to reinforce corporate culture and enable communications with a wide range of employees at every level of the organization. In addition, Harold has served as an Adjunct Professor of Organizational Development at The University of the Incarnate Word. Today, he serves as Principal Consultant for Cardigan and also shares his expertise as a speaker and writer on organizational development, organizational research & assessment, team building, corporate culture, professional development and more. Harold is a Certified MBTI Practitioner and a Barrett Culture Transformation Tools (CTT) Certified Consultant.

Leanne King is the president and CEO of SeeKing HR. In that role, Leanne has received the San Antonio Business Journal’s Women in Leadership Award, the National Association of Women Business Owners’ Visionary Award, first place for the Venture Pitch Competition at Oklahoma State University, and she won South Texas Women’s Business Center and Capital One Bank’s Business Plan Competition. She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and has been in the field of HR for more than 25 years. She began her career in the United States Air Force working as an Instrument Technician and transitioned to Manpower Analyst authoring thousands of job descriptions and completing cost comparison and efficiency studies. Leanne separated from the Air Force in 1995 and began a successful career in the private sector holding various Senior Human Resource Management and Director level positions. Leanne opened her own HR consulting firm 2007, SeeKing HR, offering a full suite of human resource services. She holds a BS in Management/Human Resources, a MA in Human Resource Development and an MBA. She completed Leadership San Antonio in 2016, the United Way’s Masters Leadership Program in 2010 and the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center’s 40 Hour Mediation Course in 2011. She is a Past President of the St. Philip’s College Business Advisory Council and currently sits on the Advisory Board for SAMMinistries.
