Panel Discussion: Lessons from the Bench, Board Room, and Trenches

Bio: Xavier Rodriguez is a former Texas Supreme Court Justice and currently sits on the bench as a United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, a master’s degree from the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs, a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas Law School, and a Master of Laws in Judicial Studies from Duke University, Bolch Judicial Institute. Prior to assuming the bench, he was a partner in the international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski (now known as Norton Rose Fulbright). He was board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General's Corps and has served on the board of directors of several charitable organizations across Texas. Judge Rodriguez is a frequent speaker on continuing legal education seminars and has authored numerous articles regarding employment law, discovery, and arbitration issues. He is the editor of Essentials of E-Discovery (TexasBarBooks 2d ed. 2021). He is a member of The Sedona Conference Judicial Advisory Board, the Georgetown Advanced E-Discovery Institute Advisory Board, the EDRM Global Advisory Council, and serves as the Distinguished Visiting Jurist-in-Residence and adjunct professor of law at the St. Mary’s University School of Law. He was elected to membership in the American Law Institute and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation. In 2011 he was awarded the Rosewood Gavel Award for outstanding judicial service from the St. Mary's University School of Law. In 2017, he received the State Bar of Texas Gene Cavin Award for Excellence in CLE, recognizing his long-term contributions to continuing legal education. In 2021, he was presented the Texas Bar Foundation’s Samuel Pessarra Outstanding Jurist Award and the TexasBarCle’s Pat Nester Innovation in Professional Development Award. He is a Past Chair of the State Bar of Texas Litigation Section, Past Chair of the State Bar of Texas Labor and Employment Law Section and Past Chair of the State Bar of Texas Continuing Legal Education Committee.

Bio: Edward, currently the Sr. EVP/CISO at Frost Bank, has spent his career protecting companies and organizations from cyber risk and crime. He has guided companies through global breaches, cyber and digital transformation, and risk management crisis. He spent 22 years in the Army as a signal Warrant Officer with deployments to combat zones and earning a bronze star while deployed. His core expertise has positioned him to lead cyber teams at systemically important financial institutions, influence and guide cyber and privacy regulations, and ensure companies are positioned and prepared for cyber warfare. 

Bio: John, a nationally recognized speaker on soft skills, brings a relatable voice and a valuable perspective to this topic, particularly emotional intelligence. His insights, refined over years of experience, have established him as a trusted speaker at ARMA's chapter meetings and national conferences.

With a career spanning over 30 years, he has gained extensive experience in leading teams, managing projects, and building relationships while collaborating in matrixed environments, which has given him a deep understanding of soft skills, particularly emotional intelligence, and their crucial role in the workplace.

John's leadership roles within ARMA, dating back to 2008, are a clear demonstration of his commitment to the ARMA community. In the Dallas ARMA Chapter, he served multiple terms as chapter president and held various roles on the Chapter Board. His contributions extended to the ARMA Southwest Region Board, where he served as the Chapter Advisor for Marketing and Membership, as well as a Senior Chapter Advisor. Currently, he is a member of the ARMA Chapter Advisory Committee.

John has worked for renowned companies such as Ernst and Young (EY), The Coca-Cola Company, The Home Depot, and DuPont. Currently, he serves as the Enterprise RIM Manager for Kemper Insurance, based in Chicago.

Bio: Jesse Wilkins, CIP, CIPP/US, CIPM, CRM, IGP, CIGO, edp, is a Senior Advisor with Global Business Transformation Solutions. He has worked in the information management industry for nearly 30 years as an end user, vendor, consultant, and trainer. His areas of expertise include enterprise content management, records management, document imaging, and training and certification development and delivery. He has worked with a variety of clients including law firms, energy firms, utilities, and U.S. Federal and local government agencies. 

Jesse is an internationally sought-after speaker and author on information management topics and has presented more than 400 keynotes and educational sessions at AIIM, ARMA, and other industry conferences and events.  He has also delivered more than 200 workshops on information management to companies and government agencies around the world. He is recognized for his ability to explain and clarify complex information management topics.
Jesse has received numerous certifications and designations in a variety of information management disciplines. He has received the ARMA Britt Literary Award and the AIIM Education Award. In 2020 he was enrolled in the AIIM Company of Fellows as Fellow #223.

Tommy was honored with the OpenText EIM Program of the Year Award for his innovative approach to enterprise data and manufacturing records management. Tommy holds certifications in Records Management, ITIL/ITSM, Scrum/Agile, Certified IT Asset Management and currently leads a team of 50 Managed Services engineers implementing scalable, AI-powered workflow solutions that enhance compliance and operational efficiency in an evolving regulatory landscape.
